Gasoline prices jumped today because of the hurricane (Katrina). I swear I saw gas for $2.50 on Sunday and then today it was $2.75. Isn't that gouging or something??
That's nothing: supposedly our school buses will have enough gas to get the kids to school tomorrow... but not enough to bring them home. Our superintendent is scheduling school, however, and said that the teachers will just have to stay until the parents can come pick up their students. As the cherry on top, our "union" (which I say that way because the unions were all broken in our state in the 70's) president said he supported the decision. Clusterfuck, anyone?
Our gas is now up to about $3.03 a gallon. My alma mater, Oklahoma City University, is offering one semester of free tuition to any La student displaced by the hurricane, and it counts for certain MS/AL students as well.
